Award level: $15,000 to the not-for-profit organization of honoree's choice. DestigmatizationAny individual whose noteworthy public efforts have helped promote the understanding of depression and reduce the shame and guilt associated with the illness is a qualified candidate for the Destigmatization award. Nominations should describe the individual's unique accomplishments in combating misperceptions about depression to a wide audience. Descriptions of the results of these efforts are helpful. Award level: $10,000 to the not-for-profit organization of honoree's choice. Community ServiceThis award is open to anyone whose outstanding work creating and improving community programs fosters a supportive, caring environment for those suffering from depression. Nominations should describe specific activities or programs that achieve this goal. Descriptions of programming impact and unique attributes should be included. Award level: $10,000 to the not-for-profit organization of honoree's choice. Primary CareHealth care professionals - psychologists, physicians, social workers and nurses - whose unique approach to identifying particular needs in depression diagnosis and treatment qualify for the Primary Care award. Nominations should describe the caregiver's role in treating patients with clinical depression and the qualities that distinguish this individual, and his or her achievements or approach to treatment, in the field. Award level: $10,000 to the not-for-profit organization of honoree's choice. PsychiatryAny psychiatrist whose transcends the profession thorugh community work, innovative clinical programs, teaching, new research, outstanding work with patients, or who makes a significant impact on the community or other medical disciplines, qualifies for this award. Nominations should highlight activities where the psychiatrist has gone beyond the bounds and has become exemplary to others by improving treatment, or expanding understanding of the illness. Award level: $10,000 to the not-for-profit organization of honoree's choice.
