Supplier Diversity Development (SDD) is an Eli Lilly and Company initiative to strengthen our supplier base and invest in our community. We aspire to broaden participation of diverse-owned businesses in the Lilly supplier base to levels more reflective of the diverse business community. We are continually seeking viable and diverse small businesses that can help us achieve our goals of providing shareholder value.
The Supplier Diversity Development website is designed to exhibit the initiatives that uphold our mission:
- We encourage local diverse businesses to grow as they work with Lilly, in hope of attracting diverse business to our communities and creating a greater quality of life.
- Smaller niche suppliers provide competitive opportunities over larger, well-known companies, giving Lilly an advantage when achieving business objectives.
- Accessing additional expertise from diverse business brings fresh perspectives and cutting-edge opportunities from an often untapped source of talented suppliers.
Why Does Lilly Support SDD?
Business Imperative
The objectives of SDD are to develop local diverse suppliers which promote the vitality of the communities where we work. Stronger, more diverse communities help us attract and retain diverse talent. Plus, diverse suppliers often offer capabilities not available in larger businesses. Community minority group members benefit as Lilly actively supports diversity priorities. The relationships we create help us achieve our corporate goals.
Compliance
As a supplier to the U.S. Federal Government, Lilly is required to achieve spending goals with several different categories of diverse suppliers.
