Film

  • Heartland Film Festival - Annual event that awards $100,000 to filmmakers who express positive values
  • Indianapolis also offers many unique film environments from Hollywood Bar and Filmworks to the IMAX 3D Theater to the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s outdoor lawn film series.

Multipurpose Venues

  • Clowes Memorial Hall - Located on the Butler University campus, Clowes is home to several groups including the Indianapolis Opera, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Butler Ballet, Clowes Performing Arts Series, and traveling Broadway shows
  • Madame Walker Theatre - Built in 1927 for the nation’s first self-made female millionaire, the Madame Walker Theater hosts many touring companies and Friday Jazz on the Avenue showcases various artists
  • Murat Centre - Built in 1910 of towers and turrets, the Murat is one of the nation’s largest Masonic Temples hosting venues such as: world-famous rock musicians, Broadway Series, Off-Broadway performances
  • Verizon Wireless Music Center - A giant, open-air facility with a covered pavilion and lawn seating hosting the most popular touring acts in rock, pop, and country

Museums

  • Children’s Museum of Indianapolis - The largest children's museum of it's kind, the museum is a nationally-recognized, five-story structure housing 100,000 artifacts in 10 galleries and hosts many touring exhibitions
  • Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art - Exhibiting creations of North American Indians with art from 19th century through the present including work by famous artists such as: Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, and Georgia O'Keeffe
  • Indiana State Museum - Recently moved to the White River Canal, the Indiana State Museum displays natural history exhibits, cultural artifacts, and hosts a myriad of interactive displays
  • Indianapolis Museum of Art - One of the oldest museums in the nation, situated on 152 acres overlooking the White River with an extensive permanent collection of African and South Pacific art, European and American paintings, Contemporary art, Asian art and textiles, and is a regular stopping point for national exhibitions

  • American Cabaret Theatre - One of the fastest-growing music theaters in the Midwest
  • Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre - An extensive buffet meal accompanies classic musicals
  • Indiana Repertory Theatre - Housed in the classic 1927 Indiana Theatre, the IRT is the sole professional, resident, not-for-profit theater in the city featuring classic and contemporary works
