Lilly Deaf and Hard of Hearing Network (DHHN)

Mission

Misconceptions exist in our community about deafness or hard of hearing individuals, and the Lilly Deaf and Hard of Hearing Network’s (LHHN) mission is to dismantle these fears and myths. The Lilly Deaf and Hard of Hearing Network provides a better understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing culture through education and “deaf awareness” efforts; to recognize the deaf and hard of hearing as being capable of anything hearing people can do except hear.

Goals

The goals and objectives of the network include a focused recruiting effort, understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing culture and the role of the interpreter, educating Lilly associates about the technological devices for the Deaf and the grammatical structure of American Sign Language, and more importantly, to eliminate any fears that Lilly associates might have in communicating with deaf or hard of hearing people.
