Lilly Reports Solid First-Quarter Results


Lilly announced the financial results for the first quarter of 2008. Q1 Reported Results: - Sales increased 14 percent, to $4.808 billion.
- Products launched this decade: Alimta®, Byetta®, Cialis®, Cymbalta®, Forteo®, Strattera®, Symbyax®, Xigris® and Yentreve® -- collectively grew 33 percent, to $1.678 billion, and accounted for 35 percent of total sales, compared with 30 percent of total sales in the first quarter of 2007.
- Net income and earnings per share grew to $1.064 billion and $.97, respectively, compared with first-quarter 2007 net income of $508.7 million and earnings per share of $.47.

Lilly Launches Its First Phase III Trial for Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease


Lilly announced the start of a Phase III clinical trial studying LY450139, an investigational gamma secretase inhibitor for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. LY450139 is being tested to see if it can slow the progression associated with Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting gamma-secretase, an enzyme that can create a sticky protein called amyloid beta.

Lilly Grants US$4.4 Million to the WHO for MDR-TB Program Expansion


Lilly announced its four-year grant of US$4,384,000 to the World Health Organization (WHO) for scaling up its global capacity to manage multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) program

International Federation-Lilly agreement will allow significant increase in MDR-TB programmes


Lilly and Partners In Health (PIH) announced a series of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) trainings for health officials and physicians treating drug-resistant patients in 10 former Soviet Republics. The trainings will be conducted by experts from Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), a major Harvard University teaching hospital closely affiliated with PIH, and are funded as part of a $4 million grant made to PIH and BWH through The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership.

Lilly Caps Successful Year with Strong Fourth-Quarter Results


Lilly announced financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2007. Q4 reported results include 22 percent sales growth and EPS of $.78 Q4 pro forma adjusted results include 16 percent sales growth and EPS of $.90. Full-year results highlighted by double-digit growth in both sales and EPS.
