Lilly is committed to meeting patient needs through innovative medicine and clinical excellence. As part of the development process for medicines, Lilly sponsors clinical studies to help determine safety and efficacy of medications; and with the intent of learning more about treatment options, disease states, diagnostics, and other associated issues that contribute to the health and well-being of patients.
Clinical studies are essential in finding better ways to detect, treat or prevent diseases. These research studies are conducted not only to determine whether treatments are safe and effective, but also to evaluate other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. There are two types of clinical studies, clinical trials (interventional) and observational /non-interventional studies.
