Eli Lilly Australia and New Zealand (Lilly) has been recognised as a finalist and shortlisted as an Excellence Awardee in the ‘Employer of Choice (100-999 employees)’ category at the prestigious annual Australian HR Awards.
On the eve of its 150th anniversary, including 65 years of operations in Australia, Lilly is entering a new era of growth driven by a world-leading pipeline. Lilly’s submission delved into the company’s acknowledgment of the need for structural, cultural and personnel change to maximise the value of its current and emerging portfolio and deliver on the company’s purpose - to unite caring and discovery to create medicines that make life better for people around the world.
Speaking of the recognition, Jamie Preston, Associate Vice President, Human Resources for Lilly ANZ and North Asia-Pacific said, “We are thrilled to be recognised as an Employer of Choice Excellence Awardee. Throughout the past 12 months, the Lilly ANZ HR team has reinforced the company’s heritage and values, while preparing for a new chapter of medical innovation and rapid business growth. It is this balance of honouring the past, while building for the future that has guided our HR initiatives and has made Lilly ANZ one of the best organisations for which to work.”
Lilly’s Human Resources strategy is underpinned by industry-leading leadership, employee engagement and communications, compensation and benefits and attracting top talent.
“At Lilly we are committed to becoming a leading talent engine and employer of choice, where our people are equipped with the mindset and capabilities to build the future of Lilly,” said Ms Preston.
The company’s submission not only reinforced their strong engagement survey results, low staff turnover, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and career development opportunities but also showcased the following milestones throughout 2023:
- The move from their home of 63 years in suburban West Ryde to a state-of-the-art new head office in Sydney’s CBD, which was met with 100% employee retention.
- Welcoming a new General Manager, Tori Brown, who refreshed the senior leadership team and leadership style to enable the organisation to pursue healthcare system reform, ensuring faster access to innovative medicines for patients in Australia.
- Strong and sustained support for female talent, as evidenced in the company’s gender pay gap score published by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (-1.5% placing Lilly within the WGEA target rate of -5%/+5%).
Alongside an inclusive workplace and meaningful development opportunities, Lilly ANZ is investing in its employees through industry-leading salaries, rewards and benefits at every stage of their lives and careers.
“We continue to ensure competitiveness with our compensation and benefits programs by conducting internal and external market reviews along with ensuring we reflect on the evolving future needs of our people,” Ms Preston said. Winners will be selected from the Excellence Awardees at the in-person gala on Friday, 13 September 2024 at the Fullerton Hotel Sydney.
