Lilly Australia today announced a transformative leadership change within the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) team, reflecting our unwavering commitment to growth, collaboration, and the pursuit of excellence that defines this important region.

Tori Brown, current President of the North Asia Pacific Hub and General Manager for ANZ, will be stepping into the role of Chief Marketing Officer, Cardiometabolic Health, based in Lilly’s US headquarters in Indianapolis.

“Tori is a bold, strategic thinker with a deep understanding of our business and a passion for delivering results through people. Her leadership in the Asia Pacific region has been marked by innovation, agility, and a strong focus on building high-performing, inclusive teams. Tori’s global perspective and patient-centric mindset will be invaluable as we continue to shape our global cardiometabolic strategy and accelerate our impact.” said Nabil Daoud, Group Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, Lilly International, and President Growth Markets.

Tori has brought immense value during her time in the region, leading multiple successful product launches, sharing when products couldn’t be launched, becoming a Board Member of Medicines Australia (the first time in 10 years that Lilly had representation), and demonstrating a steadfast commitment to health system reform to improve outcomes for Australians.

Emmanuel (Manny) Simons will be taking on the role of General Manager for ANZ. Manny is currently the Senior Vice President of Gene Therapy at Lilly, and brings a wealth of knowledge from our R&D business, as well as from his previous role as cofounder and CEO of Akouos, a company developing gene therapies to restore, improve and preserve hearing for people with hearing loss.

“Manny is a rare find, possessing a combination of deep scientific knowledge, extensive experience in R&D, and a proven track record in enterprise development. We have an incredibly talented and committed team here in Australia, and I have no doubt that Manny will lead boldly towards a stronger innovative medicines environment to the benefit of Australian patients,” said Tori Brown.

“Advancing biomedical R&D to deliver innovative medicines is my life's work,” said Manny Simons. “A thriving R&D ecosystem helps bring the best medicines to patients who need them most, and systems that consistently value innovation are foundational to the successful translation of scientific insight to better health. I look forward to continuing Tori's legacy in driving system reform and ensuring Australians can access the innovative medicines they deserve.”

The leadership transition will occur over the next few months, while awaiting visa authorisation, with an intended completion by the end of the year. Manny has deep ties to Australia – his partner grew up here and she and their children all hold Australian citizenship.
