Lilly Enhances U.S. Parental Leave Benefit

Lilly has always been a company grounded in strong family values, from the time Colonel Eli Lilly opened our doors in 1876. Now, we’re taking another step to support our employees as their families grow, by announcing a significant enhancement to our parental leave benefit for eligible U.S. employees.

New parents – mothers, fathers, and partners and adoptive and foster parents – will now be able to take 10 weeks off from work without missing a paycheck. A birth mother will also have 8 weeks of paid leave for physical recovery for a total of 18 paid weeks. In addition, all new parents may take 10 weeks of unpaid leave. These enhancements reinforce Lilly’s commitment to the well-being of our employees and progress toward a more inclusive workplace. The new program takes effect January 1, 2019.

Our enhanced parental leave is just another way we champion healthy families at Lilly. We’re building upon our existing benefits program which offers generous medical benefits, including fertility assistance and coverage for children with special needs, child development centers and backup care programs, and financial assistance for adoptions.
