Smita leads the legal function for Lilly India. She works across business and cross-functional teams to provide legal guidance, manage risk, and ensure compliance with Indian laws and global standards. She supports the company on compliance and commercial matters, helping drive responsible growth and protect Lilly’s reputation.

Smita has worked across diverse sectors, including power, oil and gas, chemicals, rail transportation and telecommunication. She has extensive experience with multinational organizations across private, listed, and unlisted public companies, primarily in the B2B segment.

Prior to joining Lilly, she served as Head of Legal and Compliance for the India Region at Nokia and held senior roles at Alstom, KBR, and GE.

Smita began her legal career with prominent law firms in India and has shaped legal strategy across India and South Asia
