Meet Laura, a Lilly Employee Volunteering on the COVID-19 Frontlines

Through research and development, clinical trials, testing, donations, improved patient assistance programs, and other efforts, America’s pharmaceutical companies – like Lilly – are coming together to fight COVID-19.

One of Lilly’s latest efforts is a program that enables employees who are licensed medical professionals to volunteer and provide medical services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laura Perkins is one of them.

Prior to starting as an advisor of product delivery at Lilly, Laura, who has MSN, MBA, RN, and PMP credentials, worked as a critical care nurse.

“When this opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance because my mother is in a nursing home,” Laura said. “I wanted to do whatever I could do to protect her and the nursing staff taking care of her. I also wanted to protect the nursing staff actively fighting this horrible virus on the front lines every day.”

Now, Laura volunteers in Lilly’s COVID-19 drive-through testing program and performs nasopharyngeal swabs on patients who visit the drive-through testing clinic.
