Meet Lilly’s Working Mother of the Year, 'Supermom' Jennifer Lopez-Reed

Jennifer Lopez-Reed, chief operating officer, connected care and insulins, is Lilly’s Working Mother of the Year. Her children – Isabella, 10, and Ethan, 7 – have had an up-close-and-personal chance to see their mother lead.
“During the pandemic, my kids got to see me in action! They can see how compassion, confidence and wit translate into the real world to serve others,” she said. “Simultaneously we learned new things and made new intentional memories: online school, quick recipes, piano, Spanish, cutting hair, games, Star Wars lightsaber 'battles' and even TikTok,” she said with a laugh.
At Lilly, you don’t have to choose between your career and your family. We welcome and value every part of who you are. In the beginning months of the pandemic, we hosted a 12-week educational series showcasing the different challenges people may be facing during the pandemic as a parent, caregiver, minority member, someone living alone and more.
“This creates a momentum of support that will enable us to be ourselves and shine through in the midst of the challenge,” Lopez-Reed said about the series.
When asked what the key to her success as a working mother, she shared, “I’m a better leader because I’m a mom, and I’m a better mom because of my career experiences. Each aspect makes the other one stronger. If being a mom was a superpower ... the world better watch out!”
