Affordable access to insulin is an issue that Lilly takes seriously. For over 95 years, Lilly has been working to develop medicines that save and improve the lives of people with diabetes.
No one should struggle with paying for their medicine. We understand the concern about the cost of insulin and want to have a meaningful dialogue. We know there's more to do to ensure people can access the insulin they need at an affordable cost.
While we collaborate with other stakeholders to develop long-term policy solutions to address gaps in our current U.S. health care system, we recognize there’s a pressing need for more immediate answers.
That’s why we have launched a suite of affordability programs, including the Lilly Diabetes Solution Center. Each month, up to 20,000 people are getting help affording their insulin, including help for people with immediate needs and customized solutions that lower the amount they pay at the pharmacy.
Recently, Lilly announced anyone who has commercial insurance, or no insurance, can purchase their monthly prescription of most Lilly insulins for $35 through the Lilly Insulin Value Program. People can get the Lilly Insulin Value Program card by calling the Solution Center.
Due to federal requirements, seniors in Medicare Part D plans are not eligible for the Lilly Insulin Value Program but can call the Solution Center to see if they’re eligible for other options, such as donated insulin for lower-income Americans or an unbranded version of Lilly insulin, with a 50% lower list price. Also, beginning in 2021, Lilly will offer all insulin formulations in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Part D Senior Savings model, which makes Part D recipients eligible for the $35 monthly price if their insurance plan participates.
Anyone can call the Lilly Diabetes Solution Center at 833-808-1234 to see if there is an option, including a lower-priced insulin, that reduces their out-of-pocket costs.
