What is student life like whilst on placement?

There is a huge student community involved at Lilly - before, during and after the application process. You may have the opportunity to meet current students you will be replacing at all the events like interviews, presentations and familiarisation days. Whilst at work you can meet new people that have worked at Lilly for many years and also collaborate with your own peers on projects.
The offices have activity areas including a table tennis table and table football to use at your leisure. There are also quieter seating areas and small rooms to go and have 1 on 1 chats with peers and colleagues and study time at your discretion. There are also activities and events set up and run by the Sports and Social Club.
Outside of work, there are plenty of chances and areas to meet up with anyone from work or outside work. Basingstoke and Bracknell have pubs and bars to enjoy outside of work. They also offer many gyms including the Gym Group, Sports Centre and other activities within short distances of the town centre.
Am I allowed to work from home occasionally?

Working hours at Lilly are usually 9-5 but you may be allowed to start earlier and finish earlier depending on your team and supervisor, as long as 7.5 hours are done per day. As well as these hours you will be entitled to 25 days holiday excluding the 8 UK public holidays. These are paid holidays and are available to take at any time during your time with us on your placement year.

Many students take over tenancies from other students. There are also local estate agents that can help you look around. Most students find housemates during the ‘Familiarisation Day’ before you start, which usually takes place around April/May.
Will I get support during my placement?

During your placement, you will have opportunities for support from different groups. For example, within your team you will have a supervisor who will meet with you weekly to discuss your progress and any issues. The Agile1 team will meet with you monthly to make sure everything is going ok, and offer support for things outside of your role. As part of the student programme, you will also be appointed a mentor, who will be someone from another team, to support you with other items for example coaching on how to develop your career.
Can I park my car at work?

Yes, the Lilly offices have on-site car parks with plenty of spaces available, that can be used free of charge.

No, there is no expectation that you need to do anything before you start. Knowledge of Microsoft packages will be sufficient in all roles and any interest in particular technologies may be useful in interviews.
