Diabetes

Lilly’s Commitment to Diabetes

Lilly has been a global leader in diabetes care since 1923, when we introduced the world's first commercial insulin.

In 1921, researchers from the University of Toronto made a scientific breakthrough that transformed the treatment of diabetes forever. Since then, diabetes treatment has come a long way with innovations such as infusion pumps, auto-injectors, continuous glucose monitoring and data management apps. We are proud to recognise the progress made in diabetes treatment. Addressing the impact of diabetes has been at the heart of our purpose for a century.

Looking to the future, we continue to research ways to improve current treatments – such as connected care solutions that will make treatment delivery more efficient and alleviate the burden associated with diabetes management.

Commitment to making life better

Through research, collaboration and quality manufacturing we strive to make life better for people impacted by diabetes. We offer a wide range of therapies and a continued determination to provide real solutions—from medicines and technologies to support programs and more.

Activating Change in Diabetes

In developing countries around the world, we’re sharing our strength and passion with local governments and healthcare providers to create sustainable diabetes management programs that meet real needs. This includes our Life for a Child Partnership, which provides access to care, education and life-saving medicines and supplies to children with diabetes in developing countries.
